3D driver information

If you are using hardware acceleration (a 3D video card) while running Half-Life, make sure you are using the very latest drivers for your particular card. Even if you purchased your 3D card (or the computer it came installed on) recently, it is likely your card manufacturer has updated drivers since you made your purchase.

Below is a list of major 3D accelerator manufacturers, and the chip sets they use. Find the chipset used by your 3D card model in the list below, then link to the manufacturer's site to download the latest drivers. If you don't know which chipset your card uses, check The Adrenaline Vault for a listing.

We are working closely with these vendors and will update this page frequently with the latest information on any known issues. Check back often, or call the manufacturer directly if you continue to have problems running Half-Life.

fan site support

Sierra and Valve Software welcomes members of the gaming community to include pictures, screenshots, hints, or other Half-Life related information on their personal websites. If you include such information on your site, we ask you include these simple elements in your HTML. We've designed these elements to be as non-intrusive as possible while still making the lawyers happy.

  1. Sierra On-Line Copyright META Tag
The purpose of a META tag is to describe the content on the page to search engines and other databases. The inclusion of a META tag will not effect the appearance of the page in the browser -- it simply acts to describe the nature and ownership of copyrights.

To insert the proper META tag, include the following in between the <HEAD> and </HEAD> tags.

<META NAME="copyright" CONTENT="Copyright 1997-2001 Sierra On-Line, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Half-Life is a registered trademark and Sierra and Sierra are trademarks of Sierra On-Line, Inc.">
For designers using visual design tools (WYSIWYG editors), consult your manual or help section for instructions on how to add META tags to your pages.

  2. Half-Life Link
Include a permanent link on your site to the official Half-Life website, http://www.sierrastudios.com/games/half-life/. You can create this link by adding an anchor tag to text or an image, the choice is yours.

  3. Sierra On-Line Copyright Line
Please include following text somewhere on the site's front page:

©1999, 2000, <a href="http://www.sierra.com" target="_blank">Sierra On-Line</a>, Inc. All rights reserved. Half-Life is a registered trademark and Sierra and Sierra are trademarks of Sierra On-Line, Inc.

This text can be formatted to fit your page and should be placed in a way as to not disrupt your page design. The text may be set as small as possible as to be still legible on most displays (i.e. <font size="1">).
